Introducing Ultra Violet – Pantone Colour of the Year 2018

The Pantone Colour Institute has declared Ultra Violet as the Colour of the Year for 2018. Hooray!! And for those of us who aren’t quite clued in to what this means, I’ll start from the beginning.

Colour has long been recognised as a strategic asset when it comes to branding and product identity. Used effectively, colour arouses your senses, releasing positive endorphins which are then indirectly attributed to that brand. The robin egg blue colour used by the jewellers Tiffany springs to mind, as does the combination of bold red featuring white lettering used to market Coca-Cola. Colour serves as a powerful marketing tool with brands keen to know how best to use it to their gain, and this is where the Pantone Colour Institute comes in.

This consulting service stands as the world leader in colour information, focussing on seasonal trends, colour development and forecasts. Using this information they partner with the global brands who value their recommendations and then use them to harness the emotional power behind colour to grow their business.

This year, our valued hue is Ultra Violet, a blue based purple which the Pantone Institute introduces as ingenious, provocative and thoughtful. While this dramatic tone is touted to those who align with a counter culture of unconventionality and artistic brilliance, splashes of Ultra Violet throughout the home can be tastefully introduced in all rooms and spaces.

Bathroom

The easiest way to add vibrancy to a white, or indeed dark bathroom suite, is to introduce a splash of colour with your bathroom towels. Often associated as a spiritual tone; a scattering of Ultra Violet in the form of your bath towels, hand towels, face cloth and bath mat, encourages a relaxing environment suitable for meditation.

This illuminated bathroom mirror will warm and reflect the colour around your bathroom. It features a convenient motion sensitive on/off switch as well as a shelf and a shaver socket, making it a practical addition to your now ‘on trend’ bathroom

Girl’s bedroom

The Pantone Color of the year goes hand in hand with the other big trend of 2018; with the enigmatic Ultra Violet embodying the mystical unicorn. Show me a girl who doesn’t love a unicorn. Can’t find one, can you? You can continue the theme with this pink heart easy fit light shade, perfect for your very own princess (or unicorn).Picture Art

Add some art work with tones of Ultra Violet and showcase your art using this sleek picture light to draw attention to your piece. This practical steel light is adorned in a satin chrome, an inconspicuous finish to allow the Ultra Violet toned art work to boldly shine.

Living room / Bedroom

Ultra Violet cushions in the bedroom or living room will instantly update these spaces and will shake up the room with similar effect to the new towels in your bathroom. Or you could go all out and paint a wall Ultra Violet and tie in with matching table lamps and accessories.

If you like to go a little off-piste, this futuristic smoked glass table lamp lends itself to the Pantone Institute of Color’s depiction of Ultra Violet as a visionary colour that thinks towards the future. Again, a mirror effect is provided to the space; with the smoked glass of the lamp bouncing the vibrant Ultra Violet tones around the room.
